Operation "Retire Early" Meeting Yesterday

So a few months ago I posted about Project X that was going to be the one that makes me a ton of money so I can disappear from society and just travel, surf and enjoy life. Yesterday was the official start of what I now call "Operation: Retire Early."

I brought on a partner for this one because of their expertise in licensing and the skate world and because they are awesome people. 80's pro skate icon, Jeff Kendall and his wife Maureen, are my new partners and we have been developing a prototype for this consumer product. We were going to produce and market it ourselves but have since decided to take the product to a large company that already has worldwide distribution and a product that is complimentary to this one and try and go BIG right away. The market we are going after is a $1 billion/year in the USA alone and the product has worldwide appeal.

So we had our first pitch meeting scheduled with Company Z over Project X and I went to LAX to pick up Jeff. We had some time so we headed over to Baker Boys Distribution to catch the first part of their "Cinco de Drinko" party as Jeff wanted to say hi to Erik Ellington and Jim Greco and see their ops. The crew was there and I am sure it got crazy after we left.

We stayed for 30 mins and hustled from the Valley to Culver City for our pitch. The pitch went really well and I think that Company Z is the best possible potential partner for us, even though they aren't the 1000 lb. gorilla in this particular space.

That being said, I am hopeful that in a year or two I will be able to unplug my computer and Blackberry and vanish with gobs of cash...you will be the first to know.

Baker Boys always dress up for the ocassion.
