As magazines drop like flies, there is a reason Thrasher continues to be in print. Check out this cover of Deathwish's own Antwuan Dixon. That might just be the first cover of the mag that doesn't have skating on it. Congrats Antwuan...hope you don't decide to de-ink some day because that shit is going to hurt right around the eyelids.
In more Deathwish news, Project X (i.e. Piss Drunk documentary) has hit a snag losing it's director. I am working to find someone on par to pick up the slack so in the mean time we have a bunch of raw footage that needs cutting.

Vans Shoes Book Release Jammy Jam down in the OC
After E3 we headed down to the Vans book launch party. Warren, Piers and I met up with new client, pro skater, Geoff Rowley and did the damn thing. Van's sure does know how to throw a party. They held it outside in the parking lot with a bunch of food vendors (burgers, bbq, tacos, ice cream truck) and full bars. It was a solid OC crew and reminded me of the days when I worked in the surf industry. Anyways, they also had a skate jam in their insane bowl/pipe and an art show filled with art by marquee names in the art, surf and skate worlds. Geoff Rowley even did a piece that included a bunch of gun shots, metal and a machined up board.
Before the sun sets, the amazing photographer from Plop captures the essence of the Vans party (translation - the fricking Blackberry camera is so bad all it takes pictures of is shadows and spots of light)
Piers, Ewan (Flip Skateboards filmer), Geoff Rowley and Warren Geezy eatin' and drinkin' on the free grub. Good thing I decided to take Piers to dinner before a party filled with more food than you can eat.
If you put this ramp in front of me when I was 13 I would have jizzed my pants. I think I still did a little last night. Damn I wish I were young again.
I particularly liked this Neckface piece that was done for the artshow.
So toward the end of the night, Warren and I were having one last Pabst and Warren noticed an old guy in a Hawaiian shirt and asked me if he were the head cheese...and yeah I confirmed it was Steve Van Doren. Within minutes, Steve came over to graciously thank Warren for coming to their party and told us some cool stories about the company. He was so excited he went and got each of us a copy of the new book so Warren can read about the history of the brand (I was going to buy one on my way out anyways). We spent about 10 minutes talking story with Steve and it was really cool how down to earth he is considering the empire he built. Shit I grew up so much with Vans that when I was young and played soccer and baseball my mom bought us Vans cleats (I was the only poor bastard without Nikes).
Anyways Warren made a mad scramble after Steve left to find a sharpie and surprised Steve by asking him to sign the book...as did I (but who cares about me). Can't wait to read this.
A few Warren G photo opps later I managed to sneak out at a reasonable hour and got home to sleep. The minute I fell asleep (The Plop doesn't sleep very well and rarely falls right asleep), Warren called to make sure I got home o.k. (I only had two beers). I was wide awake after that and got about 3 hours total...I am totally exhausted now and will not make it through the day...my couch is calling. FML

E3 with Alfred, Warren G and DJ Piers Baron (talk about a motley crew)
So team Plop x RPRT headed to E3, the video game tradeshow, in Downtown L.A. to walk Warren G and DJ Piers Baron around. Piers had done music supervisor work on DJ Hero and we want Warren to be involved in DJH2 so Alfred from my office set up a private demo of the game. Piers was nonplussed having worked on the damn thing for so long but Warren was hooked and loved the game.
After the Activision folks took care of our crew we headed to check out a few other booths which were all really cool to accommodate us with special treatment and demos away from the masses. The folks at Sony, Capcom and EA were all cool to us and worked it out. Microsoft ignored us but we only had two hours (which was plenty) to check out all the cool technologies. The thing that stood out most was the new slide screen PSP by Sony that is coming out. Going to be off the hook for all you gamers out there. It is really light and small but the game resolution, skype capabilities and wireless networked gaming is pretty sick.
Warren about to scratch and mix it up during the DJ Hero 2 demo.
Warren and Piers
No geek fest is complete without the Ghostbusters showing up.

I taught at FIDM and all I got was this lousy mug...

So yesterday I guest lectured at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) in Downtown L.A. to Pat Turner's Events class. I didn't really have an agenda but when I am asked to speak to a class of 25 women I have a hard time saying no...I digress. But honestly, I actually like teaching (now I have USC, FIDM, Learning Annex and E. Factor under me belt) and had fun bantering about whatever the hell it is I do. It was crazy that my old client, Geoff Thomas's, old assistant was in the class.
Anyways, the real purpose of the post is to talk about this giant mug they gave me as a thank you. It is about 2.5 times the size of a normal mug which is saving my ass today since I got no sleep again last night. Coffee is my friend. Coffee companies send me samples and I will blog about it...need coffee....want coffee...freebase coffee..mainline coffee...you get the idea.
Off to E3 with Warren G, DJ Piers Baron and Alffy Alf. Then to the Van's book launch party! Long day ahead...pics tomorrow.

Off to manipulate minds
Slow day today as I prepare to teach a class at FIDM on special events (oh...to mold young impressionable minds) and hit E3 with clients (maybe).
Tomorrow will be another day. If we are back in the office after teaching there just might be an update or two. If not, tomorrow my friends...tomorrow.

An American Idol makes a little girl pretty damn happy

Last year it was David Archuleta, but now that my niece is 6 and more sophisticated she has migrated to the older and more artsy Adam Lambert. Special thanks to Miles Siggins for stoking out a very cute little girl with a personalized autographed headshot for my niece Eliyah. I feel sad for David, but I think Adam's pic will be replacing him bedside. I don't think my sister and bro-in-law have had that talk with her that even though she is a beautiful girl, Adam will just NEVER be that into her.
*And no "Eliyah" is not a pseudonym for the Plop we use to try to pretend the pic is not for us.

Oh Yeah! DJ HERO shout outs to RPRT Client Piers Baron

All the hype for DJ Hero is Stateside but this man (sometimes known at DJ Baron in the U.K.), Piers Baron, just completed music supervision on DJ Hero! Piers has just moved to the States and is dossing on the couch of skater Geoff Rowley, another RPRT client, until he settles in to get to work. Look for his amazing soundtrack on Flip Skateboards' "Extremely Sorry" film due out at the end of the year. A collabo he does for the flick is going to propel him big time in the good ole USA...I am giddy like a little girl to reveal who it is with but can't. Good on ya mate!

Activision Party with Warren G rocking the stage with Em, Jay, AM, Barker

Last night was the kick off of E3 and Activision threw a bender at the Wiltern. The lineup was pretty solid with Travis Barker and DJ AM doing an insane energy driven set. Warren rolled out for "Regulators" and the crowd seemed to dig it (in all TLFI of course). Jay Z also hit the stage for a long set and pretty much killed it with his 80's do. Watching him from stage left was pretty cool. Then Eminem showed up for a short set and it was relatively boring so we left to get more of the amazing food and gin and tonics (on the house, of course). There is $$$ in video games...I am in the wrong business.
I was pretty impressed with Barker x AM.
Warren takes the stage with Barker and AM.
Stage left from Hova until they cleared backstage because too many douchebags managed to get there. We just hung out in the dressing rooms for a bit...and er...ate?
Eminem x Jay Z. Em was better when he was on drugs.
P.S. Blackberry - the cameras on your phones absolutely blow

Stacy Peralta's "Made in America"

Somehow and somewhere I got an untagged pre-release copy of "Made in America" the new doc by Stacy Peralta on the history of the Bloods and Crips and watched it this weekend. The pic is done very well and though it spends a lot less time on the gangs and more on black history in the USA it provides a humanistic look at these kids and why they live and die by the red or blue. Stacy uses a ton of archival footage and pics (so impressed with the quantity of stuff he got his hands on. Since I am producing a doc and trying to get archival Piss Drunx items I know how hard it is) which he brings to life the same way he did with pics in Riding Giants by 3-Ding them. Definitely worth a looksee!!!

TLFI Gifting Suite and Warren G/Demigodz at House of Blues Round Up
This weekend was all work for me but it was a lot more fun than your job probably is. We ran a gifting suite for TLFI in honor of the MTV Movie Awards and the Spike Men's Choice Awards. I pretty much got started promoting the event this Tuesday and was SUPER surprised at how many people came through for me and rolled by. We brought in about 2000 pieces (including hot off the press TLFI boardshorts) and probably had about 100 left over after the event. I didn't take pics of people (photogs did and as soon as I get them and find out who they are I will post) since I didn't know who anyone was besides my crew but there was talent there from Breaking Bad, Gossip Girl, Fame The Movie, Friday the 13th's new Jason, WWE Girls, Candy Girls and a bunch of others. Afterwards, we headed to the House of Blues where my new client Warren G (welcome to the Family) shared a bill with The Demigodz (Ryu my intern's crew), DJ Drama (Dyrdek's cousin) and Bishop Lamont. Here are a few snaps from the events.
Lil Jon (a TLFI supporter) rolled out thanks to Tyler Clinton (who also showed) to show support in the Team Jacket. We also laced up Lil Jon's son who came with his pops.
Best Dance Crew x Carlos The Office Bitch = MAGIC
Flippin Out's Jenni Pulos and my girl Christine Su from Adidas making the sun shine.
Luke Goss from Fighting repping the TLFI Cashies.
Oh look it's "Kid" from Kid N Play. Alex Vaz had to do it and Kim Webster (West Wing) had to follow.
Vaz and Warren G representing. Look for some good shit in the works from Warren soon!!!
Demigodz killed it for their set, RYU front and center, repping TLFI 100%
The view from the stage...Warren repping TLFI as well...the crowd went nuts for his set.
