We are stoked to be adding Pat to the RPRT roster. We will be working with him on his endorsements/sponsorships for the 2009/2010 season and look forward to working with our first snow client.
I hope this means we don't have to travel to the cold. The Plop is a cold weather pussy. We hate the cold but will go to the cold for our clients. We are good like that.

Today's COOL/NOT COOL - Nails DID
Wow...we haven't done this column in a while and wanted to bring it back today. Ladies today we are discussing getting your nails did.
COOL - A simple one color gloss on your nails girls is enough. Don't go hog wild...stay classy.
NOT COOL - Sorry but all the colors, animal prints, nail rings, and laquers make your hands look like an Ed Hardy ad. All that shit doesn't make the other sex think you are hot, but rather makes us think you are trashy. Nails did should be Nails DON'T.

FTC rules on Blogger Freebies*

Looks like the FTC just clamped a vice grip on the nuts of bloggers in the US of A today. Starting December 1st, bloggers will have to report if they are being paid by brands to plug their products on any postings they make. If the evil bloggers (many of whom are laid off print pub employees trying to eek out a living) don't report the payola, they will be punished with fines up to $11,000 per violation.
That is a prime example of government working for the people to fight crime at its worst. Good job government...pat on the back Little Bear for doing your job and wasting taxpayers time and money.
*Plopculture was paid $1.89 by Bloggers of America to post this.

Venice Skatepark opens...I still suck
After much anticipation, the Venice Skatepark at the Breakwater finally opened this weekend! I skipped the hullabaloo and went to check it at the end of opening day and there were still hundreds of people there so I passed. I got to skate it Sunday and for a public park they did a great job. Pools, obstacles, street course...all great for a free spot. Not that I can skate at all, I still had fun. There was a 5 year old ripping harder than I was...FML. I will be back for sure though.
Here are a few pics of the park:
Part of the snake pool that features a bunch of humps and smooooooothe tranny.
The big pool that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot board. This is for the big boys...
Street course pic one. Even that little rail was too much for my pathetic ass but I pulled some fun wall rides on the wall behind it. Old school for sure.
Street course pic 2 - some damn good step sets, boxes and rails.
The man himself - Christian Hosoi...repping. I used to go watch him skate big air contests with my friend Rob Choi when I was in 7th grade...he still KILLS it.

A VERY belated R.I.P. to Matt from VeniceSurfReport.com
I got in a bit of a nostalgic mood today and went to a blog I haven't frequented in a while. VeniceSurfReport.com was a site I checked hourly after I found it. First I went on to check the surf report. Then a picture of me surfing the pier showed up on the site. Then I realized the site was something more...It was an ongoing commentary of life, Venice locals, homeless life, wit, humor, sarcasm, controversy and the writer was another Matt. After I reached out to Matt to let him know I was a fan, we quickly became internet friends bantering back and forth on each other's blogs. I reposted his run ins with a Mafia rat. Loved his posts on the "boyos" (the rag tag crew of homeless that lived at the pier that Matt would trade 40 oz. beers for allowing him to make them stars of his site). He commented on my inane posts on this blog. We emailed. I sent him clothing. We were surf buddies that never got to surf together.
Today I went to his site to wonder why he hadn't posted in a while. I knew he got promoted, had knee surgery and was over doing the daily surf report. His blog started to take on an economic doomsday bend and though I shared some of his views and liked his insight, I stopped frequenting. Today I find out shortly after his surgery, Matt passed on due to complications from that surgery. He was young. He loved surfing despite being a big guy who wasn't the best out in a break where you are judged for everything you do.
Matt...my friend...I will miss your posts. Rest in peace.
Don't lose touch with friends or family...

Fashion Friday (on Thursday) - Thom Browne for Moncler

Today I am inspired to post about something I know shit-all about - Fashion. My friend Risa Knight (Tokion and Inked Magazines) has been sending me pics from recent shoots she has done and the styling is flat out amazing. It makes me realize how I really NEED to step up my game and get out of jeans, tees and flip flops (maybe not) a bit more often. My grandfather used to be the well dressed man about town (a closet filled with custom Barney's suits = gangster) and when I see a young cat all dappered at it harkens me back to a simpler time when business was done with a handshake and when that handshake was broken it was fixed with a bullet to the temple :)
Anyways, my friend Rickey Kim (www.evilmonito.com) recently turned me on to a collection I am embarrassed to say I knew nothing about called Moncler from Italy. To me, the Italians are the best in the world when it comes to designing anything. Moncler recently hired Thom Browne to do their collection and I have to say these clothes are so amazing it makes me want to throw away all my shit and invest in one of everything from the label...too bad I can't even afford one item from them...nonethless, enjoy the pics and check out the collections at:
