Boots kick ass - Dry Bones

So lately I have been thinking a lot about my wardrobe and how pathetic it is. I have always prided myself on never having to go to work in a monkey suit (suit and tie) or pleated pants and a polo shirt. However, lately I have had a hankering to step out of jeans and tees a bit and grab some goddamn style for once. I still want to keep it casual but last week I was in San Fran and walked by a Ralph Lauren Rugby store and just by walking by the window display I was ashamed at my closet. I am somewhat in the fashion business...shit.
One of the big problems I face internally in my head is that over the years I have represented countless jeans and tee brands so that costume was ok and expected of me. Also...I haven't had to pay for clothes since I was in high school.
That being said...lately I have really had a thing for boots. I really like cool old school cobbled boots. I don't really have much in my closet (hello Goodwill) that goes well with a nice pair of boots (though I have a great Italian pair my boy Rene gave me and some old school brown Docs that are warn in just right after 15 years of use).
Yesterday my friend's at LTD Magazine posted a piece on this Japanese bootmaker who is coming out called Dry Bones. I really like what I saw. It is a solid blend of old school (wingtip and desert boots) mixed with the modern by usage of colorways and body.
From what I gather you can buy these boots at Self Edge, which is coincidentally in San Fran. Get on it.

Contest of the Decade - Win the Plop's crap (a Facebook Challenge)

So in my past life, some of you may know, I was a product placer and my offices were chock full of free crap that I gave to celebs, stylists, productions and editors. Well, I have an office full of old clients' crap and I really am sick of looking at it. There is denim, tees, jewelry, shoes, baby tees and a whole bunch of men's tees/hoodies/douchewear (former client...I don't wear the stuff). There may even be a Dick Towel in it for you.
Some of you may know I am also a Facebook addict...admitted here. I am at 1943 friends and my good friend Anna Hirst, who I have known and harassed since I was in 4th grade, suggested a contest for my 2000th friend. That got me thinking....and here it is:
I AM ANNOUNCING A CONTEST. Carl's Jr. is letting people win a trip with Kim Kardashian...I am one-upping them. Win a shopping spree with Plopculture. This contest is a bit exclusive but I am at least letting you read about it. Here are the rules:
1) I only add friends, business associates, colleagues or people who I should know on Facebook. If you are one of these, you know who I am, come find me. If you are already a friend on Facebook you can't delete me and then wait for the ticker to hit 1999 and try and add me. I know your funny games and you will not win. Cheaters.
2) You have to come and pick up and pick out the stuff. I am not sorting through shit and packing boxes. Those days are over.
3) You have to agree to a full Plopculture photoshoot for the blog. (By photoshoot I mean allow me to take your pic quickly on my crappy blackberry.)
4) You have to bring me a coffee.
Ready...begin!
