Plopculture used to be rife with postings about boxes of free crap (usually clothing) I got sent to me. I used to be showered with gifts in hopes that I would help people get to celebrities, get on TV or they could tap me for key contacts without having to pay the piper...since I left the product slinging business, the boxes have stopped coming and my wardrobe has suffered.
HOWEVER, once in a while, someone is tricked into thinking I am some sort of "tastemaker" and a box of goodness will shop up on my office doorstep. When that happens, even if I hate the stuff, I get giddy like a gumdrop.
Today, my good friend and fellow WHS Warrior, Kim Lash sent a little love package from the new line she is working for, Aknowledge. I love that she picked blacks, darks and jail greys for me...which is definitely my color scheme these days. The pieces are clean and stylish with a nice focus on slight irregularities and weathering...not unlike me. From what I gather, the line is killing it and you can pick it up in stores like Vault (NY), El Mercado (LA) and online at Karmaloop.com. Get it...quick.
Just like Ice Cube said "today is a good day" (translation: we love us some free shit! Thanks KL)

Johnny Strange goes BIG at Sunset Beach Two In Session

Johnny Strange is continuing his terror on Mother Nature by doing his first tow-in session at 3-4x overhead Sunset Beach last week with big wave legend Garrett McNamara piloting the ski. Johnny grew up in Malibu surfing but had yet to try his hand at really big surf. His first go out wasn't just a taste test of course...he chose macking outer reef North Shore to give it a go...and handled it. Now Johnny is gunning for Teahupoo in the summer and really wants a shot at the XXL Award for 2010-2011...there is no stopping him.
Johnny is in development of a TV show with Pilgrim TV and Films. Every day I am amazed at what this kid has accomplished and what is to come...stay tuned.
In the meantime join his facebook fanpage at: Strange World

David Gonzalez joins the team (and tries out for a movie)

Frizicking stoked that we were approached today by David Gonzalez to manage him. RPRT's skate roster is starting to stack up pretty heavily and adding the anti-christ of noseblunts is a fucking feather in our caps for sure.
Today he and Louie Lopez took a little jaunt up to L.A. to read for a pretty major role in my friend Elgin James upcoming film "Goodnight Moon" (working title). Both killed it...hopeful one of them lands the roll.
Thanks to Flip filmer extraordinaire Ewan Bowman for playing chaffeur and driving Louie and David up to hell.a.
Welcome to the team D.G.

The Plop needs a new muse
Just haven't had anything to post as of late and my readership is eroding like a Mexicali faultline. This is a desperate plea to my readers to inspire me...instill life back into this blog...I don't want to kill it, for the second time, because I am starting to feel like Brett Favre retiring then unretiring and so on.
Not quite sure what is stopping me from blogging but I quit making fun of people, quit promoting people's products that weren't pay me, quit covering other people's clients, quit facebook, quit twittering (except for business related tweets), quit caring. Guess that makes me a quitter...help me not quit the Plop.
Let's do this folks...send over column ideas, cool things I should know about, offensive content, death threats...anything really.
And begin.
