F Me, I'm a "Yes" Man

F Me for always telling people "yes." I don't know what psychosocial explanation there is for my always saying "yes" to people when I want to say "no" but I do it nonetheless. I guess I am always trying to make people think I am "the man" since the line of work I am in involves being "the man" to some people. Regardless, I perpetually create a queue of free work for myself to do by agreeing to help and do things for others who probably wouldn't help me if their life depended on it.

Must stop saying "yes" NOW!

And that is one to grow on folks...

WHY??? SUP-S

The Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) craze has gone waaaaaaaaayyyyyy too far in the waters of Southern California. I won't get into why I am so over it but it has something to do with people who never surfed a day in their life all of a sudden getting on 15 foot boats and SUPping into the lineup.

Anyways, over the gloomy Labor Day Weekend I saw this guy SUPSing...Stand Up Paddle Skateboarding. This is so wrong in so many ways I had to share.

Why or why??? Talk amongst yourselves...

NEW Column Alert - F Me!

This blog has sort of transformed from part self/client promotion, part offensive material, part snide comments to all self/client promotion which to me is interesting but to many of the Plop faithfuls may be boring. So, it is time to start a new column.

Since I am always more than happy to rip on others in a public forum it is only fair for me to make fun of myself. This new column "F Me" is all things I hate about myself that I will, over time, reveal to you...feel free to chime in and add your own "F Me's" in the comments section but today's column is on the very topic that inspired me to create it...SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION.

I hate that I over promote myself, my clients, my business waaaayyyyy too much but at the end of the day as an entrepreneur with a small business I gotta do everything I can to get my shit out there. Sooo...not saying I am going to change for F ME for sure!

Flip sweeps the LA Skate Film Festival Awards

I can't believe I went out two nights in a row but I ventured out with the Flip crew to Hollywood (we all know how much I love Hollywood...not) to the 1st Annual LA Skate Film Festival Awards. They were held at the Music Box and some industry heads were there but for the most part it was just locals.

Here is how the night went down:

Smallest to Largest: Louie Lopez (client), Curren Caples (client), David Gonzalez (client), Edgar the animator (soon to be client), Geoff Rowley (client), Ewan Bowman (Flip filmer), Goldie (team mascot), Baron (client) - RPRT has Flip on lock!

Geoff presenting...

Baron unexpectedly won an award for "Best Soundtrack." We didn't even know he was nominated but I think the honor came since he was the only one who did a real soundtrack...and it kicked ass. Two big nights in a row for the man! Yeah Baron.

Flip wins "Video of the Year." No surprises there, but a nice honor.

How do you not love these kids? Louie Lopez and Curren Caples - doe eyed boys on doe's. The biggest stars often come in the smallest packages.

Volcom Snow's 9191 Premiere at the Lido Theater

After a long wait, last night Volcom premiered their snowboard film "9191" starring Gigi Ruf (and others) down in Newport to a packed crowd of industry heads, media, pro athletes and groms. Our client BARON scored the first ever soundtrack to a snowboard film and we rolled down to support. The film was great. The soundtrack was great. The night kicked ass. So stoked for BARON, Gigi, Jake Price and team Veeco for putting out a sick film that provided both visual and aural delight for all.

Here are some sights and shots of peeps from the night:

9191 in lights!

The crew came out en masse for the pre party and film. Always a supporter, Rebel Waltz's Lisa Kidd eager to hear the BARON score (and drink some free wine).

Pre-party! Crappy shot but major heads in the room including RPRT clients BARON, Rowley and Ryan Paul.

Mr. Rowley and his better half Sabrina got VIP "caution tape" seating.

Flip filmer Ewan Bowman says "whatchu talkin about Willis?"

Producers and Veeco brass Billy Anderson and Ryan Immegart preside.

BARON and Gigi celebrating before the lights go down.

Congrats to everyone who worked on the film! Thanks BARON for thanking us in your aknowledgments on the silver screen!

Press Roulette - Exactly Why I Don't Do iPhone's - Daily Hot Dog

OK...the winner of press roulette today is exactly the reason why I do this column...you never know what you are going to get. The Daily Hot Dog is a new iPhone app that just came out that delivers to you, who has nothing to do in your day, a new photo daily of a dressed up hot dog. Yes...you heard it right...a dressed up hot dog. Sounds stupid? YES it is...but that is why it is genius and why you need to have this on your little digital time waster.

For me, I am staying Blackberry even though the last two I have gotten (including the new Bold) pretty much suck ass. Yes Blackberry you have lost me as a rabid fan but still a loyal user. Anyways, I waste enough time as it is if I had an iPhone I would be a completely useless bastard since I would be wasting all my time downloading and playing with mindless apps like the one that plays dress up with repurposed cow lips and assholes.

Get on the hot dog train folks.
