Curren Caples in NY Times Style Magazine: T

Some of you avid Plop readers (all 3 of you...including myself) may remember a trip I did with client Curren Caples to NYC to shoot for T: NY Times Style Magazine. Well the issue he shot for came out and the story he was part of was called "Gifted." We are all pretty stoked at how it came out and they gave him a full page in the magazine! Curren was in damn good company in the article including Lady Gaga's Art Director, a model, a band and a famous production designer.

To see the whole piece you can go here: http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/04/gifted-curren-caples/

Thank you to Jacob Brown, Sebastian Kim and the rest of the NY Times Style crew.

Congrats Josh Hansen - Australia SuperX CHAMP 2010!!!!

Despite muddy and rainy conditions Josh Hansen proved this weekend why he is the top contender to win the US Supercross championship next year. Josh dominated the Australian Supercross Championship series from the minute he landed in Oz this year. Win after win Hanny left his competition wondering why they weren't even in the same class as he was in terms of raw speed, power and control.

Josh is the Australian Supercross Champ for 2010 and we are stoked to work with him and know he will kill the 2011 season here in the States starting with Anaheim in January.

Yeah Hanny!!!!!!

Bash of the Day: SEARS (you suck)

I have never, nor would I normally shop at Sears. Who the fuck shops at that outdated and low quality store anyways? BUT...I needed a mattress BADLY. They posted ads claiming all these great savings on mattresses so I decided to check it out at the local Santa Monica store (which is so dismal and bad by the way it amazes they have survived in our neighborhood for so long). If anyone knows the mattress game it is a total FUCKING scam. No store carries the same make/model (they get renamed in each store) so it is impossible to price compare.

Anyways, I am a lazy fucking shopper, so I go into a store and if something looks like it will work I buy it. That is what I did with a $1000 mattress. I will not go into detail about what happened after because frankly it will be exhausting and boring for you but let's just say I got the mattress (which came with a "mail in rebate") and needed to exchange it.

Every fucking policy they advertise is not honored when trying to do a return, get a rebate they promised or trying to adhere to the return policy. I wasted hours both in the store and on the phone with countless morons who had no idea how to do an exchange, a rebate, a return, a price guarantee refund, a delivery or tie their own shoes for that matter. MANAGERS had no idea how to do any of this and did not care to help me. Countless people just basically brushed me off onto other people or told me they couldn't help me with things I was entitled to.

This was the worst shopping experience for anything I have ever had. I implore you to shop elsewhere. I hope the assholes high up at Sears read this...take a cue from your competitors like Target who are blowing you away in the water...the customer comes first. You even give a 100% money back guarantee and not one person in your organization would adhere to that. Sears, Sears.com, Sears delivery and Sears returns seem to all operate independently and send you into a morass of back of forth to try and get anything done.

Please to the baby jesus people read this and shop elsewhere.

I am returning the mattress and taking the 15% restocking fee for my troubles (I should pay these assholes for fucking every thing up and wasting hours of my time??) and going to a real retailer.

PS - @mysears this blog is followed by a lot of influencers and people that help make decisions of what is cool in pop culture. I am sure they will agree Sears isn't even close to being cool.

Rant over. Here's a puppy:
